Falling in love with wine during tasting foray's in the Willamette Valley started Bryon and Dana Dooley down the path where we find them today. After college, they moved to Illinois where Byron's passion for wine grew and where he was introduced the wines of Europe. Years in the tech business found them in the San Francisco Bay area - they travelled to wine regions all over the world where Bryon deepened his knowledge of wine and Dana perfected her chocolate love (and techniques).

The tech bubble burst gave them the excuse they needed and they sold their home in San Francisco bay area to pursue their dreams! College in Napa followed where Byron was able to make wine and hone his chosen craft. Remembering their love of Oregon and the Willamette Valley, they decided to begin the wine and chocolate business there. While Bryon started on his wine, Dana started making chocolates.
The goal of Seven of Hearts is to produce fine wines that truly reflect their terroir – vintage, site, soil and clone. Byron achieves this with native yeast, whole-cluster fermentation, little to no manipulation. He works with the growers to make sure the grapes are tended to with the same principles - no spraying with pesticides, fungicides, chemical fertilizers, etc. The fruit must come to the winery able to reflect its place.

The Dooleys chose the name Seven of Hearts for this labor of love. The label on the bottle resembles a medieval-style playing card in the hearts suit and symbolizes Byron’s passion for the traditional Burgundian style of Pinot noir. The label’s center features a heraldic cat, representing Seven, their feline family member.
